NG-2: Level 2 Natural Gas Characterization

Applications: Useful for distinguishing natural gases that are chemically very similar and not readily distinguished by the basic NG-1 analysis. For example, NG-2 may sometimes be used for distinguishing gases from different horizons in one producing area or for distinguishing gases from two different natural gas pipelines.

Sample size required: Depends on concentrations. C₂H₆ must be 0.3%, and C₃H₈ must be 0.2%. Should be sufficient sample to provide at least 1.0cc (STP) of each of these components, plus the amount required for NG-1.

Analyses includes: All analyses in NG-1 plus determination of δ¹³C of C₂H₆ and δ¹³C of C₃H₈.
